Our Pastor, Joel Sherbino

Joel graduated from Bishop's University in Quebec in 1999 and completed his Master's of Theological Studies (MTS) at Tyndale Seminary and subsequently his Master's of Divinity at McGill University.

Joel spent 4 years working in Malawi, Africa with International Ministries of the Presbyterian Church, where the roots of living simply but authentically took hold. It was there that his concern for people on the margin's of life grew into a personal passion. This realization led to the adoption of 2 children from Africa, providing Respite Care to a child in need on weekends & welcoming people into his home for meals or to stay for a while.

Joel is convinced that people need to live out their faith in practical ways in all aspects of life. For him, that includes being an engaged husband and father every day (ok, most days!), helping people move, and talking to people about Jesus over coffee or beer and nachos.

Joel's particular interest is looking at the intersection between faith and community, and understanding how each person can live out their faith in their unique circumstances, living the adventurous life that Christ promised.

Joel has been the Pastor of Paris Presbyterian Church for 11 years in addition to serving as a Liaison to Malawi for International Ministries of the Presbyterian Church, where he oversees the prison ministry, leads teams, and speaks in various locations.

Joel is married to Rebecca and has 3 awesome children; Isaac, Masika and Canaan

Director of Music, Chuck Milke

Chuck’s passion for music has taken him from serving for ten years as Director of Music Studies at Vanguard College in Edmonton and since, as music Minster/Pastor in churches in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.  Chuck’s desire to stretch and grow people for more effective music ministry has been his signature trait.  His ability to arrange music for various music genre’s and experience level allows him to be relevant to today’s younger people while still respecting tradition and heritage for those who are older.  When relaxing at the piano, his preferred style is jazz.  He and his wife Linda, have been married for 46 years.

Organist, Shirley Hutty

From her earliest recollection, music has been a part of the core fabric of Shirley’s life – starting initially with music in Church settings, then formal training in classical music along with performing secular/easy listening music in various settings.  In July 2008, Shirley was excited to join the music ministry at PPC as Organist and Choir Director.  Her lifelong career as a Registered Nurse has been most fulfilling – complete with variety and adventure!  Shirley’s past time activities include – cherishing visits with friends, exploring small towns with novelty shops (collecting crystal), unique restaurants, traveling and enjoying reading, not to mention that she plays an instrument that is bigger than all the other instruments combined.

Kids Ministry Coordinator, Barb Robinson

Barb and her family have been members at Paris Presbyterian for over ten years.  Her children have grown up in the Sunday School and she has enjoyed volunteering in this ministry for many years.  She has recently taken on the role as Kids Ministry Co-ordinator and looks forward to working to continue making this Ministry fun and interesting for teachers and students.

Youth Pastor, Jonathan Silverthorn

Jonathan joined the team at PPC in 2016, bringing an academic background in theology and psychology, and a passion for seeing people of all ages grow in the Lord.   Jonathan is a great asset to the PPC Slo Pitch team!.!  He enjoys spending time with family, playing strategy games, and watching movies.  Jonathan lives in Burford with his wife, Brittany and daughter Estelle and together they make a great team.

Administrator, Julie Henwood

Julie and her family have been a part of PPC since 2009.  Before taking on this role, Julie “early retired” from her 15 year financial services career to start a business and be available for her young families needs.  Now that the boys are older, she’s taken on another roll in the financial sector once again.  She is grateful to still have the flexibility to serve the Church in this capacity as well and co-leads the church Slo-Pitch team with her husband Mike.   She has been married to Mike for 16 years and they have two boys, Nathan and Aidan.

Caretakers, Elaine and Dave Brown

Elaine was born at the Willet Hospital and has lived in Paris her whole life. Over the years she has seen many changes in Paris. She met Dave and got married at the church on May 16th, 1981 and started working at the church in 1989 as a custodian. She has two grown children, a daughter (Sarah) who lives in Brantford and a son (Dave) who lives in Norwich. Elaine is involved with the Fidelis Guild. Some of her hobbies are making bed mats out of milk bags and walking her dog Dexter, who is part shepherd/part lab, so we are not sure who really walks who. She comes from a large family of 8 so there is never a dull moment in her life. As if this is not enough, she also started working for McDonalds part-time in 1995, so I guess you can say she is Mc loving both her jobs
